We play an active role in communities across the island of Ireland.

We aim to play a value-adding role in the communities in which we serve, and have integrated corporate responsibility and sustainability across our business. We strive to operate responsibly, engaging with stakeholders and communities to support their development.

In addition to being a significant employer across the island of Ireland,  we actively seek to invest in community partnerships and projects that address social and environmental issues.

Our community investments are focused across four key areas; community wellbeing, youth development, environmental initiatives, and philantrophic donations.

Coca‑Cola Clean Coast Week 2016

Environmental Stewardship

Coca‑Cola has partnered with An Taisce and Keep Northern Ireland Beautiful on their Clean Coast programmes for more than a decade.

The Clean Coast programme aims to engage communities in the protection of Ireland’s beaches, seas and marine life, and we are proud to say that our investment supports approximately 20,000 volunteers in coastal regions around the island of Ireland to keep the marine environment litter-free.

In 2015, our 10,000km of coastline saw 700,000 pieces of litter collected thanks to 650 active coastal community groups

Coca‑Cola Thank You Fund 2016

Youth development

In 2016, our flagship community grant-giving initiative, The Coca‑Cola Thank You Fund took on a new direction, with a focus on empowering young people across the island of Ireland.

The €130,000 Fund calls on non-profit and community groups to apply with new ideas to inspire and support young people across the following areas:

  • Self Esteem & Confidence Building: Projects that help equip young people with skills for living, life and work
  • Wellbeing: Initiatives focused on providing youth with an outlet to support their mental health and wellbeing - from creative pursuits, to mentorship, to community involvement
  • Leadership: Programmes for young people to develop their leadership skills – positioning them as future community, business or cultural leaders

The Fund has been running since 2011 and in that time it has supported 43 organisations for community, social and education programmes aimed at promoting youth development, healthy and active lifestyles, and environmental leadership. To date €625,000 has been awarded in grants, with over 30,000 people positively impacted as a result.

Coca‑Cola Lisburn Lord Mayor's Bursary

In addition to the Thank You Fund, Coca‑Cola supports young people from the Lisburn and Castlereach areas with the Lisburn Lord Mayor's Bursary each year. The bursary provides financial support to talented young people to enable them to develop their skills and individual performance in a variety of activities.

Young people are the change-makers in our society. They have a vital role to play as leaders of our economic, social and community development, and we want to empower them to do so. We are delighted to make €130,000 available, to support the rollout of new and inspiring community-based projects that respond to a real need among young people. Coca‑Cola Zero Bikes

Community Wellbeing

As part of our community wellbeing strategy, we support a number of initiatives across our island that encourage people to lead healthy and safe lives.

Coca‑Cola Zero Bikes

Coca‑Cola's investment into public bike sharing schemes has enabled the introduction and/or expansion of bike schemes across five cities; Dublin, Belfast, Cork, Limerick and Galway.

The schemes are going from strength-to-strength in each of the cities and recent figures show that 2.3 million journeys were taken on Coca‑Cola Zero Bikes during the first half of 2016 alone.
