Our People and Communities

our local COMMITMENTS

We aim to play a value-adding role in the communities in which we serve, and have integrated corporate responsibility and sustainability across our business. We strive to operate responsibly, engaging with stakeholders and communities to support their development.

In addition to being a significant employer across the island of Ireland, we actively seek to invest in community partnerships and projects that address social and environmental issues.

Our community investments are focused on issues of local relevance and are prioritised into three programme areas that are of critical importance

·       Empowering youth;

·       Water stewardship initiatives.

·       Community wellbeing

EMPOWERING YOUTH

The Coca-Cola Thank You Fund

Every year, the Coca-Cola Thank You Fund gives back to local non-profit organisations, helping them fund projects that matter to their communities.

Now in its 10th year, the Fund has supported many much-needed projects aimed towards promoting healthy, active lifestyles and environmental leadership in young people. To date, we’re proud to report that €1,055,000 has been given to 93 non-profit organisations across the island of Ireland.

#YouthEmpowered

Through our flagship programme #YouthEmpowered, we have been tackling one of the most relevant societal issues in many of our markets, i.e. the employability of young people. Since introducing #YouthEmpowered in 2017, we have provided free life and business skills training to over 2,000 young people across the island of Ireland

WATER STEWARDSHIP INITIATIVES

CocaCola partnered with An Taisce and Keep Northern Ireland Beautiful on their Clean Coast programmes for more than a decade. The Clean Coast programme aims to engage communities in the protection of Ireland’s beaches, seas and marine life, and we are proud to say that our investment supported approximately 20,000 volunteers in coastal regions around the island of Ireland to keep the marine environment litter-free.

COMMUNITY WELLBEING

During the recent COVID-19 crisis, we donated over 900,000 drinks to frontline healthcare staff, over 100,000 meals to foodbanks and charities via FoodCloud and providing 10,000 bottles for use as hand sanitiser dispensers to the HSE – a total in-kind value in excess of €1m.

We also continue our support of the Simon Community, Fareshare, and FoodCloud making monthly product donations to help address food poverty and reducing food waste
